If you are an advanced skier or snowboarder we recommend you purchase the Niseko United All Mountain Pass as it covers more terrain. For beginner or intermediate riders, the Grand Hirafu pass should be sufficient.

Japanese SIM cards have for a long time really difficult for visitors or foreigners to obtain. Recently there are companies that are making it easier. You can find short stay 3-14 day pre-paid data only SIM cards at airports or convenience stores in Japan. Alternatively, our favourite, mobal, offer a pre-paid or monthly Japanese SIM with voice, text and data. With free shipping worldwide and free pick-up in Japan, you can be connected the moment you step off the plane.

Prior to mobal, we recommended CDJapan rental data sim-card and found it to be sufficient and affordable.

Contrary to popular belief, Japan is no more expensive than many other countries. Restaurant prices, lift tickets and snow sports are found to be quite reasonable, if not cheaper when compared to other world class resorts.

It can be an affordable holiday, you just need to know when and where to go. The most expensive part of your holiday will probably be the accommodation. Prices can vary greatly depending on whether you holiday in peak or low season. Check out our When to Visit blog post for more information.
